Welcome to MyFalloutShelter.com.  On this site you will find one of the most comprehensive collections of authentic, government produced, public domain archives of real fallout shelter information.

With the events of 9.11.01 at New York City and the Pentagon, the proof that terrorists would, and could, strike us where we live become reality.  One of the leading proponents of Unites States Defense, John Ashcroft, has stated over and over again, that the U.S. will suffer many more, and possibly much more, devestating attacks in the coming years.  This will include all possible modes of delivery of weapons of mass destruction, including bioloigical, chemical, and nuclear materials.

The largest fear of the public, and most proffessionals in the field of emergency management, is of release of radioactive materials in either a terrorist nuclear weapon, or a conventional weapon with radiological waste included in the device, making for a "dirty" bomb.  With this greatly increased fear, there is very little information being shared with either the public, or even with the EMA field, about how to provide protection for the civilian populace in a localized, or multi-pronged event.

Starting in the 1950's and 1960's, the U.S. embarked on a national fallout shelter program, but with the lessened threat of all-out nuclear attack, with the fall of the Soviet empire, the need for such a program fell by the wayside.  While shelter space was located for 166 million citizens in areas throughout the nation, and most were even stocked for possible use, these shelters have all but disappeared from the world.

During these same times, the U.S. preparedness agencies designed and tested fallout shelters in theory and actual practice, in real nuclear explosions in the late 50s and early 60s.  Based on the scientific research and gathered data, they then mass produced tens of millions of manuals, pamphlets, brochures, plans, guidelines, and other hardcopy of fallout shelter information, for dispersal to the populace in times of need.  A very large quantity of this information was sent out to the nation for training, education, and basic preparedness, but nearly all has disappeared from the mainstream.

Now that there is again a need for shelter information, this website exists to give you digital versions of all the possible information that has been done over the past several decades, to give you a sense of control, a source of real authentic government produced data, and a realistic and timely look at the state of the art of technology in the shelter industry.
